When Kenneth Sternig, Program Director of Milwaukee County’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS), needed a logo and annual report designed to represent Milwaukee’s nationally-recognized EMS program, he came to Tessera Design.
First we created a logo that would represent the municipalities that cover 241 square miles and serve approximately 1 million people with Emergency Medical Services in Milwaukee County. The logo is designed to be used in a variety of applications from embroidered badges, to decals, to any printed or fabricated use for which the program may encounter a need.
We then designed the 2007 Annual Report to complement the logo in color and tone. Ken wanted a piece that could be used to educate administrators as well as lay people on the broad spectrum of Milwaukee County’s EMS contributions and the community support behind it. The goal was to illustrate the EMS mission “to provide performance excellence in pre-hospital care through education, communications, operations, health information and quality management, and scientific discovery.” We were able to do this by using digital photos supplied by Ken of actual EMS employees and equipment, which allowed us to keep costs down and make the report more personal.
