Congratulations, again, to Howard Snyder (third from the right in the photo) and the Northwest Side Community Development Corporation for making the Villard Avenue Library a reality. Today’s ceremony was a lovely commemoration of an historic collaboration among city, state and national government entities, along with private lenders and developers, to build Villard Square.
Villard Square is a mixed-use development on Milwaukee’s northwest side that will include a Milwaukee Public Library and 47 apartments tailored to grandparents raising their grandchildren.
It would never have come to pass if it were not for Howard and his grassroots, community-organizing tenacity. Milwaukee mayor, Tom Barrett, referred to Howard in that regard as a “pit bull with a smile.” We could not be more proud to have played a super small part in this project by creating the signage, billboards and buttons that Howard so tirelessly presented to people on behalf of supporting the library and revitalizing this neighborhood.
